GROUP LAUNCHED FOR FAMILIES AFFECTED BY CANCER

Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care is teaming up with local organizations to launch a new program for kids who have cancer and their family members. The program is also for kids who have family members with cancer.

B.A.S.E. is the name of the social and support group that will begin meeting monthly at Action City in Eau Claire this month. B.A.S.E. stands for believe, achieve, support and educate.

The group’s first meeting will take place from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Thursday, November 19. It will meet the third Thursday of every month at Action City. The cost is ten dollars per person, which includes two hours of unlimited non-ticketed games and attractions, plus a meal. For those who wish to participate in the meal only, the cost is six dollars.

“When I heard about this opportunity I was glad to partner with Action City since it caters to kids. This will allow kids to be in an environment where they can have fun, take their minds off cancer and provide an opportunity for the adults to network with others,” said Criss Gutsch, Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center manager in Eau Claire.

Marshfield Clinic is organizing B.A.S.E. in cooperation with Action City and F.R.O.G. 4 Life. F.R.O.G. 4 Life ( HYPERLINK "http://www.frog4life.com" www.frog4life.com) is a family-inspired group that raises money for families affected by cancer. F.R.O.G. stands for Fully Rely on God. The Holm family started F.R.O.G. 4 Life after losing a child to cancer.

“The level of enthusiasm with everyone involved has been amazing. If it were not for Pete Holm and F.R.O.G. 4 Life teaming up with Action City, we would not be able to provide this joint effort to our community. Our children’s group, CLIMB®, has been a great success and to see others come up with opportunities to support members of families that have been affected by cancer is inspiring.” Gutsch said.

The Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery (CLIMB®) program at Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire helps kids find the courage to deal with cancer in their families. This six week course, developed by the non-profit Children's Treehouse Foundation, gives emotional support to kids who have a parent or other loved one diagnosed with cancer

B.A.S.E.

We meet the third Thursday of every month, from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at Action City. The cost is only ten dollars per person, which includes two hours of unlimited non-ticketed games and attractions, plus a meal.

Our goal is to give kids an environment where they can have fun, take their minds off cancer and provide an opportunity for the adults to network with others.

Batting Cages

It's like baseball at the zoo. Improve your swing year round in our professional cages. The batting cages offer variable speeds and a full length pitch distance.  Whether your practicing to become a pro, or just looking to get in a few hits while your kids are playing, our batting cages don't disappoint.

Volcano Climbing Wall

The bad news is that Action City rests on a geological fault line.  The good news is that by the time Action City opens each day, the volcano lava will be cool enough for climbing.

Laser Runner Laser Tag

Battle your friends and family in Action City's laser tag arena.  Choose a side and take down the other team in an underground world of mist and obstacles. Fun for two people or thirty.

Alley Cat Alley Mini Bowling

Four lanes of big fun in a smaller version of a classic game. No dorky shoes required.

Park-n-Ramp Bumper Cars

Fender benders without a call to the insurance company. Take out some steam on whoever is unlucky enough to be in your way.

Super Arcade

Fight through zombies, roll the perfect skee-ball, or "bring it" on Dance, Dance Revolution pads.  The Action City arcade has the games people love.  If games aren't fun enough already, turn in the tickets you earn on arcade games for the coolest stuff around.

Action City is the the only place of its kind in the Midwest. 55,000 square feet of games, rides, sports and great food, plus outdoor adventures. Two go kart tracks (including the Midwest's largest indoor track), climbing wall, mini golf, laser tag, and a sea of video and redemption games. There is almost more to do than you can get done in one visit.
